Rebuilt from the ground up, Sherlock Holmes: The Awakened has not only altered the graphics but also the gameplay and some of the story (the goal was to make it fit with recent prequel game Sherlock Holmes: Chapter One). In addition, major shoutout to Frogwares, who has continued to make and publish its own games despite the war in its home country of Ukraine. The original was Frogwares’ first foray into Lovecraft, but since then its made 2019’s The Sinking City which was average at best. The game isn’t your typical Frogwares Holmes title, though, as it mashes everyone’s favourite detective together with Lovecraftian horror. reviewed it for DDNet in 2013 when it was available for iPad). Developed/publisher Frogwares has announced that its remake of Sherlock Holmes: The Awakened has gone gold, and will be releasing this April.
